I work on attack-defense trees, and more broadly on whether graphical threat models
survive contact with the people who have to use them. My thesis,
Attack-Defense Trees: A Practical Threat Model, asks three questions:
where attack-defense trees fit alongside other graphical models such as attack graphs;
what makes an attack tree a good attack tree; and whether these models are
usable by the full range of stakeholders who make security decisions, including the
non-technical ones.
